Sportingbet Online Casino Chair
Sportingbet, an online casino sports gambling group, recently made an announcement on the designation of Rory Macnamara as a non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee. He was an ACA of Price Waterhouse before becoming a part of the Morgan Grenfell as an investment banker in 1981. He gave suggestions to clients on a comprehensive corporate finance matter for seventeen years, and became Head of the Advisory/M&A department in 1995 and online casinos Deputy Chairman the next year.
Macnamara accompanied the Lehman Brothers as the chief of UK coverage and headed the online casino teams advising mostly UK and international clients. In 2011, he became an independent consultant working with some industries on their corporate development and financial and acquisition techniques. He was also once the non-executive chairman of Izodia plc in 2003, a company concerned about a complicated series of claims and negotiations to retrieve lost funds. Under his administration, Izodia had reacquired huge amount and was able to give it back to stockholders. He has a broad experience in supervising online casinos audit committees and accomplished that role at Augean, PEI, Dunedin, and Raven Mount.
Sportingbet also disclosed two major revisions to the members of the Board. Both Nigel Payne and Sean O’Connor, who served as chief executive and non-executive director of the company are not anymore considered independent directors for the objective of the UK Corporate Governance Code. Payne will stay on the audit committee after Macnamara’s selection, and will leave from the Board at the Annual General Meeting of the online casino company on December 16, 2011. After resigning as Sportingbet’s Senior Independent Director on March 24, 2011, O’Connor will also leave from the Board. O’Connor and Payne have come into consultancy contract with Sportingbet.
